[ARCHIVED] GenX Levels Remain Constant Throughout Hurricane Florence

CapeFearRiver

CFPUA has received results from water samples taken at the Sweeney Water Treatment Plant during and after Hurricane Florence. As can depicted in the table below, levels of the chemical GenX remained consistent with levels seen before the storm made landfall in mid-September. CFPUA continues to regularly sample at the Sweeney Water Treatment Plant. Results for additional PFAS testing can be found on our website.

For more information on the state-wide response to the discovery of PFAS chemicals in the Cape Fear River, see this recently published summary of the issue.
