WILMINGTON, NC, March 7, 2017: Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) is pleased to announce the start of its third year of offering a FREE water station for use during community events. The water provides cold, refreshing water to fairs, festivals, sports tournaments, road races, and dog walks… just about any public event anywhere drinking water is wanted. The station can serve six people at a time and, with just one step up, it can quench any kid’s thirst. It also provides the ability to quickly refill water bottles and a dog bowl is always provided for our furry friends. (The picture below is from last year’s Azalea Festival, which we will be attending again this year.)
CFPUA’s water station is the same as the one first used by Charlotte and New York City; it works off of just about any fire hydrant or outside faucet. The only real eligibility requirements? The event must be in CFPUA’s service area and the station needs to be staged within 100 feet of an outside faucet or fire hydrant.
The free water is exactly the same as what comes out of your tap at home. Depending on the location of the event, it will come from one of our two state-of-the-art water treatment plants: our Sweeney plant or our Nanofiltration Plant in Ogden. For the last eight years running, CFPUA’s water has received special awards for its high quality.
The station has already been put to good use for the last two Azalea Festivals, Earth Day festivities in Hugh McRae Park and Family Fun days at Maides Park. We encourage anyone who is interested to sign up fast! To apply for the FREE use of CFPUA’s Water Station, all you need to do is go to our website at www.cfpua.org and click on the Portable Water Station Application link on our homepage. Once there, they will find an application and directions to reserve the station for their event. Requests to use our water station are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
