WILMINGTON, NC, June 17, 2015: Today, the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) is pleased to announce the launch of its new-and-improved website, CFPUA.org. The new site, found at www.cfpua.org, uses an introductory, or portal, page to provide customers with direct access to essential customer services, vendor information, payment options, and the City of Wilmington’s trash, recyclable and stormwater services. (CFPUA bills and collects for these services on behalf of the city.) The new homepage and subpages present customers with a cleaner, easier-to-use format to find key information about CFPUA’s services. A new emphasis is placed on CFPUA’s job opportunities, news alerts, and use of social media.
The new CFPUA.org also offers improved “responsive design” to make the site more mobile device-friendly. CFPUA customers using the site on their iPads, iPhones, and Android devices will have faster, more intuitive access to all of the information and services CFPUA’s website has to offer.
While the new site is a significant upgrade, it is based on the previous site structure, allowing an easier transition for CFPUA customers. The work on the new site’s design followed an internal review of more than 200 water and sewer utility websites across the nation. This allowed CFPUA to establish a clear design direction, focusing on what it wanted and – perhaps more importantly – did not want the new site to be. The site’s construction was then handled by its vendor CivicPlus over a five-month period at a cost of approximately $20,000.
“The new CFPUA.org was designed with our customers in mind,” said Jim Flechtner, CFPUA Executive Director. “Since we provide essential services to nearly 200,000 people, it’s important to have an easy-to-use, high-functioning website and the new site achieves those goals.”
