[ARCHIVED] NOW YOU CAN PROPERLY DISPOSE OF YOUR MEDICATION WITH NHC'S NEW DROP BOXES.

CFPUA thanks New Hanover County for creating two new permanent drop boxes that give residents safe new options to dispose of expired, unwanted medications. While this initiative is a local effort to keep drugs off the street, prevent overdoses and accidental poisonings, it also helps us avoid environmental contamination when these medications are flushed into our sewer system.

Items that can be placed in the secure drop box include non-narcotics, narcotics, over the counter (OTC ) medicines, herbals, and veterinary medications. Items that should not be placed in the box include needles or sharps, and biohazard materials.

The two new permanent drop boxes are located at the Sheriff’s Office in the front desk lobby of the Detention Center located at 3950 Juvenile Center Rd. in Castle Hayne, and the second is in Room 201 of the Historic Courthouse located at 24 N. 3rd Street in downtown Wilmington.
