[ARCHIVED] Boil Water Advisory in effect Sunday for parts of Sunset Park

A precautionary boil water advisory will be in effect starting at 5 p.m. Sunday, September 15, for parts of Carolina Beach Road and the Sunset Park community.

Approximately 300 CFPUA customers will be impacted at the following addresses:

  • 2059 to 2448 Carolina Beach Road
  • The 200, 300, and 400 blocks of Central Boulevard
  • The 500, 600, and 700 blocks of Morningside Drive
  • The 200, 300, and 400 blocks of Southern Boulevard
  • The 2100 block Adams Street
  • The 2100 block of Washington Street
  • 509 to 617 Hart Street
  • The 300 and 400 blocks of Bell Street
  • The 300 and 400 blocks of Cape Fear Boulevard

A contractor for CFPUA will be replacing numerous broken valves in the drinking water distribution system.

Customers at the addresses listed above may experience low or no water pressure the evening of Sunday, September 15 and in the early hours of Monday, September 16.

Periods of low or no pressure in the water distribution system increase the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.

When under a boil water advisory, customers are asked to boil their water for one minute, then allow it to cool prior to consumption. Alternatively, they may use another water source such as bottled water.

Consumption includes drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, food preparation, fruit and vegetable washing, pet consumption, and the preparation of baby formula. Customers do NOT need to boil water prior to using it for showering or bathing.

Before a boil water advisory is lifted, CFPUA lab staff test the water to ensure it is safe to drink.
