The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority Board will hold its monthly meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, at the Wilmington Convention Center, 515 Nutt St.

Among the items scheduled for Wednesday’s meeting is a public hearing on CFPUA’s proposed water and sewer system development charges for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021.

The system development charge (SDC) is a one-time fee that newly connecting customers (typically builders) pay to “buy in” to the water and sewer system. The proposal includes an increase in the water SDC from $1,920 to $2,120 and an increase in the sewer SDC from $2,070 to $2,180.

It is important note that changes to SDCs do not impact the water and sewer usage rates paid by existing CFPUA customers.

A limited number of seats will be available at the Convention Center for the public to access live video and audio feeds of the proceedings. Attendees are required to wear face masks in accordance with Wilmington Convention Center safety protocols.

Parking is available in the Wilmington Convention Center parking deck on Nutt Street. The public is asked to enter the Convention Center either from the parking deck or the Convention Center Drive entrance.
