[ARCHIVED] Update: Boil water advisory, traffic alert as crews work to repair water main

ScheduledMaintenanceImage

CFPUA crews Thursday evening are working to repair a water main break disrupting service to several customers near Independence Boulevard and River Road.

Work is underway on Independence about 200 yards south of River Road. Crews are using the northbound lanes of Independence, which could affect traffic in the area. They are working to provide a temporary lane for northbound traffic at the site, but drivers should avoid that area unless necessary.

Work is expected to last into Friday morning.

A boil water advisory is in effect for all customers on Independence Boulevard between River Road and Carolina Beach Road and all customers in the River Lights and River’s Edge communities. Customers in those areas should boil water for at least one minute prior to human consumption until notified by CFPUA.

Human consumption includes cooking, making ice, drink mixing, food preparation and hand washing.

CFPUA will provide more updates as they become available.
