Wilmington, NC (July 13, 2016): Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) is pleased to announce two new board members were seated today during its July Board meeting. Jennifer H. Adams was appointed by New Hanover County, while Rev. Charles E. Davis, Jr. was appointed by the City of Wilmington. Both of their terms run until July 1, 2019.
Ms. Adams is a longtime resident of Wilmington who currently serves as the Facilities and Maintenance Department Head for Corning. Ms. Adams has worked in the environmental field for more than two decades and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of North Carolina. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech, as well as an MBA from UNCW. Ms. Adams is active with several nonprofit organizations. She is a board member of Communities in School Cape Fear and also worked with the Wilmington Concert Association and Junior Achievement. She succeeds Jim Brumit.
Rev. Davis is also a longtime Wilmington resident and retired pastor, who currently serves as the founder and board chairman of On-Time Ministries, Incorporated. Prior to his retirement from the New Hanover County Tax Department, Rev. Davis served for almost two decades in the City of Wilmington’s Public Utilities Management Department. Currently a member of the New Hanover County Tax Board of Equalization and Review, Rev. Davis also has a long track record of community service. He currently serves on the executive committee of the New Hanover County branch of the NAACP. In the past, he has sat on the boards of the Community Arts Center and New Hanover County Community Action, Inc., as well as the Advisory Board of the New Hanover Health Center. He replaces Jim Quinn.
“CFPUA plays a vital role in our community. Safe, reliable water and wastewater services are essential to our overall quality of life,” said Ms. Adams. “I have a particular passion for environmental issues and look forward to working with my fellow board members, CFPUA staff, and our customers, so we can continue to improve upon the progress CFPUA has made since it opened its doors.”
“I know, from first-hand experience, the importance of properly operating and maintaining our water and sewer systems,” said Rev. Davis. “Our community is expected to experience significant growth in the coming years and I hope to use my knowledge and expertise to assist CFPUA with its planning for the future.”
During today’s board meeting, Mr. Brumit and Mr. Quinn were recognized by their former colleagues on the Board for their service to CFPUA. Mr. Quinn is the last original member of CFPUA’s Board.
