Last week, we told everyone about our “Cease the Grease” lid campaign, a giveaway of 15,000 lids to help our customers keep cooking fats, oils, and grease out of the sewer system throughout the year, but especially during the holiday season.
When you deep fry with larger amounts of cooking grease, like when you fry a turkey, you can’t simply put a lid on it. To help out our customers, here is the procedure you should follow to keep the oil out of our sewer system this holiday season.
First, there’s the obvious. Let the grease cool in the fryer first, then pour it back into the original container. Place the container in a plastic trash bag to keep the grease on the container from staining your car. (Learned this one personally…).
You can then take it to one of the following places supplied by the county to quickly and safely dispose of it. Yes, it is a short drive but it’s a great thing for you to do for our sewer system.
