CFPUA has lifted a precautionary boil water advisory for customers in the Covil Avenue area Friday, March 28. Water service in the area is back to normal operation.
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
CFPUA has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for customers in the Covil Avenue area, effective immediately Wednesday, March 26.
Approximately 300 customers are impacted at the following addresses:
- The 0, 100, 200, 300, and 400 blocks of Covil Avenue
- 361 Darlington Avenue
Covil Gardens, The Reserve at Forest Hills, and The Annexe at the Reserve are included in the advisory.
Periods of low or no pressure in the water distribution system increase the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.
When under a boil water advisory, customers are asked to boil their water for one minute, then allow it to cool prior to consumption. Alternatively, they may use another water source such as bottled water.
Consumption includes drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, food preparation, fruit and vegetable washing, pet consumption, and the preparation of baby formula. Customers do NOT need to boil water prior to using it for showering or bathing.
Before a boil water advisory is lifted, CFPUA lab staff test the water to ensure it is safe to drink.
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
The 300 block of Covil Avenue is closed effective immediately Wednesday, March 26, for an emergency water main repair.
Covil Avenue is closed to traffic in both directions between Broad Street and Darlington Avenue.
Northbound traffic is detoured around the closure via Darlington Avenue to Market Street. Southbound traffic is detoured via Broad Street to Darlington Avenue to Covil Avenue.
The closure is expected to remain in place for approximately 4 hours.
