[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: Boil Water Advisory Lifted for McRae Street area

Running faucet

CFPUA has lifted a boil water advisory for McRae Street and surrounding areas Saturday, December 14. Water service in the area is back to normal operation.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

CFPUA has scheduled a boil water advisory for parts of McRae Street and surrounding areas starting at 5 p.m. Thursday, December 12.

Approximately 200 customers at the following addresses will be impacted:

  • The 300 to 800 blocks of McRae Street
  • The 600 to 800 blocks of Walnut Street
  • The 300 to 400 blocks of North 7th Street
  • The 500 block of North 8th Street
  • The 800 block of Campbell Street

The advisory will remain in place while crews replace damaged water valves.

Periods of low or no pressure in the water distribution system increase the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.

When under a boil water advisory, customers are asked to boil their water for one minute, then allow it to cool prior to consumption. Alternatively, they may use another water source such as bottled water.

Consumption includes drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, food preparation, fruit and vegetable washing, pet consumption, and the preparation of baby formula. Customers do NOT need to boil water prior to using it for showering or bathing.

Before a boil water advisory is lifted, CFPUA lab staff test the water to ensure it is safe to drink.
