Cape Fear Public Utility Authority will hold a meeting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24 to accept public comments on the Engineering Report and Environmental Information Document for the Southside Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade and Expansion Project.

The meeting will be held at CFPUA’s Administrative Offices at 235 Government Center Drive in the Jordan Conference Room on the second floor.

Members of the public are invited to review the Engineering Report and Environmental Information Document at this link.

Those unable to attend the September 24 meeting may submit their comments online using this form.

The Southside Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade and Expansion Project will replace the existing Southside Plant on River Road. Project costs are estimated at over $250 million. The North Carolina State Water Infrastructure Authority has awarded CFPUA $105 million total in low-interest loans to support the project. CFPUA will be pursuing revenue bond sales for the estimated $145 million in remaining project costs.

In addition to expanding the plant’s capacity to serve current and future CFPUA customers, the project will upgrade facilities and treatment technologies at the plant to protect our community’s environment.
