The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority Board on Wednesday, May 8, named Nicolette Fulton as Authority Attorney.
Ms. Fulton joined CFPUA in May 2022 as Deputy Authority Attorney. She has served as interim Authority Attorney since longtime Authority Attorney Linda Miles retired in March 2024.
Previously, Ms. Fulton spent 13 years as Senior Associate City Attorney for the City of Raleigh, representing the City in litigation before North Carolina and Federal courts, administrative agencies, and the Office of Administrative Hearings.
Before working for the City of Raleigh, Ms. Fulton had a general practice firm in Wilmington focusing on criminal defense, juvenile defense, family law, and civil litigation.
“Nicolette has proven herself as a tremendous asset to CFPUA and its customers in her time with the organization,” CFPUA Executive Director Kenneth Waldroup said. “In addition to coordinating with CFPUA’s outside legal counsel on our ongoing litigation against Chemours and DuPont, Nicolette has helped oversee CFPUA’s participation in the 3M settlement over PFAS contamination, advised our Board on legal and personnel matters, and given invaluable guidance to staff and CFPUA leadership on regulatory and legislative issues.”
Ms. Fulton has also previously served as the Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Government & Public Sector Section, and the North Carolina Bar Foundation’s 4ALL Day of Service, for which she volunteers annually.
She lives in Wilmington with her husband, Michael, and their daughter.
