The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority Board on Wednesday, March 13, recognized outgoing Authority Attorney Linda Miles, who stepped down from her role after nearly 15 years of service to the utility, its customers, and the community.
In a resolution recognizing Ms. Miles many contributions [this will link to the resolution], the Board noted her guidance as CFPUA “navigated and fulfilled an Environmental Protection Agency Consent Order with origins pre-dating the Authority’s creation,” and “through litigation in Federal Court regarding PFAS contamination … .”
Admitted to the N.C. State Bar in 1972, Ms. Miles joined the Greensboro City Attorney’s Office in 1977 and was named Greensboro City Attorney in 1999. She began working with CFPUA in June 2009 as a contract legal consultant to the Board. !["Linda]("/ImageRepository/Document?documentId=15670")
CFPUA Board Chair Jennifer Adams said: “Linda’s extensive knowledge of North Carolina government law, public records, and public meetings has been an invaluable resource to CFPUA staff and members of our Board, both past and present. We’re grateful to Linda for her insightful counsel and years of service and wish her well as she moves into a well-earned retirement.”
CFPUA Executive Director Kenneth Waldroup said: “It is hard to overstate Linda’s impact on CFPUA as primary legal counsel during our formative years. Linda has served and guided almost every Board and three Executive Director administrations in her 15 years of service. CFPUA has greatly benefited from that guidance.”
Ms. Miles plans to enjoy her retirement with her husband, Jim, and her sons’ families, including six grandchildren.
Nicolette Fulton, CFPUA Deputy Authority Attorney, has been appointed to serve as interim Authority Attorney while a search is underway to fill the position.
