[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: Market Street Lane closure at Porters Neck Road extended

Work zone traffic sign

A turn lane of Market Street at the intersection with Porters Neck Road will remain temporarily closed through Monday, April 26 due to ongoing repairs to a sinkhole.

The northbound right-turn lane of the 8200 block of Market Street onto Porters Neck Road remains closed. Right turns onto Porters Neck Road can still be made from the rightmost northbound through-lane.

CFPUA crews filled in the sinkhole at the request of the N.C. Department of Transportation, and CFPUA’s emergency contractor is performing emergency repairs to sewer infrastructure in the area. While crews had hoped to complete the work Friday, April 23, it was determined that an extension of the closure was necessary due to the complexity of the repair.

Sewer service in the area is not impacted by the repair work.
