[ARCHIVED] CFPUA stops sanitary sewer overflow near Love Grove

Sanitary sewer cover

CFPUA crews stopped a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) Monday afternoon in the Love Grove area near Archie Blue Park.

CFPUA was alerted to an overflowing manhole at 1:56 p.m. Monday at an outfall bordering Archie Blue Park. Crews cleared the blockage that lead to the overflow and had the SSO stopped by 2:39 p.m.

An estimated 645 gallons of untreated wastewater entered nearby Burnt Mill Creek. The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality has been notified, and CFPUA staff have begun water sampling in the area of the spill to determine whether the SSO has had any impact on water quality.
