[ARCHIVED] CFPUA ends shelter-in-place operations at water treatment plants

operator duties 2

With North Carolina no longer under a stay-at-home order, CFPUA has stopped housing key staff at our water treatment plants.

On April 6, CFPUA began dispatching teams of plant operators for seven-day stays at the Sweeney Water Treatment Plant and Richardson Nanofiltration Plant. CFPUA rented trailers to provide these operators with private, comfortable living spaces during their extended stays at the plants.

This plan was implemented to reduce staff’s chances of exposure to COVID-19, helping ensure the continued operation of our drinking water plants and the community’s access to water service.

As of Monday, June 1, CFPUA has ended shelter-in-place measures and resumed normal operations at water treatment plants. Except for our customer service centers at 235 Government Center Drive and 305 Chestnut Street, all CFPUA facilities remain closed to the public.

Over the next several days, the rented trailers will be sanitized and removed from the plants.
